A fire burns beneath Manhattan. I lit it, and I'm proud to admit it. I love this city. I love it so much that I've set and numbered it's days. I'll burn it down and build it again from the ash that remains. But first, I have an old score to settle.
Giovanni was an old friend of mine. We went on many adventures together, until he grew a conscience and became good. The he abandoned me and became King of the Vampires. Now I need to get to him and show him who became stronger.
I began wandering through the New York night. I looked up at the sky and saw the sun begin to rise. I felt the warmth of the sun touch my flesh and warm my ancient bones. I stood there, on the rooftop I had climbed to, alone with my sword, and watched the sun slowly rise over the horizon. The suns rays were burning my skin, but I wasn't a normal vampire, remember? I have control over fire, and that means heat. I absorbed the heat of the sun, got up and jumped to the next rooftop, then the next and the next. While jumping across the many buildings of Manhattan, I saw a man that I recognised walking along the street. I stopped, floated down from the roof, turned invisible, and followed him. Sure enough, it was who I thought it was. I snuck up to him and punched the back of his head. I ran and punched his left arm, then his right, then I reappeared in font of him. "Enkidu! Friend! How has time been treating you?" Enkidu was shocked to see me, who wouldn't?
"L-Lucifer. I thought they locked you away for all eternity."
"Yea, they did. Some kids set me free though. I got my sword back as well. Interesting story, they actually locked me up a second time, about fifty years after I got my sword."
"Oh I heard about that. Who made it?" Enkidu was interested in my sword. He liked all Japanese style swords.
"Masamune. He made two sword for Giovanni and I after we saved him from a pack of water demons."
"Oh right, and then you killed him with it didn't you? And you tried to kill more people and vampires? That's why they arrested you again."
"I already knew that Enkidu!" He loved rubbing in my past captures and failures. It's what annoys me the most about him. "Where's Gilgamesh?"
"Close."
"Oh well tell him I said hi. I have to be somewhere now. See you later." I began to walk away when he said something that caught my attention.
"Actually Lucifer, I've been looking for you." I knew it was too much of a coincidence for my old friend, one of the greatest worriers in the world, to just show up out of nowhere. Giovanni sent him. I know it.
"Did Giovanni send you?"
"I'm not allowed to say the name of my master, but no, it wasn't Giovanni."
"But it was someone."
"Yes."
"Do I know them?"
"No, but they know you. Rather well to be honest. I didn't expect them to find me, kind of like how i didn't expect to find you so easily."
"Well now you're gonna regret it!" I launched at his head but he dusked out of the way and punched me in the side, launching me across the road. I tumbled onto the pavement and struggled to my feet. "Do you feel the earth heat up Enkidu? Do you feel it!? I did that, I set the clan on fire and killed them all. First this on, then the rest of the world."
"You've gone mad Lucifer."
"Yea, centuries of solitary confinement does that to ya." I withdrew my sword, pointed it at him at shot a ball of fire towards him. He jumped and dodged it, running towards me. He kept running towards me as a made a slight adjustment in the position of my sword and lunged. My sword struck him in the heart. I poured heat and fire into the blade, burning his heart. Enkidu was killed by my hand. Maybe I had gone mad. He was one of my closest friends. Now he lay dead at my feet, his blood on both my sword and my hands. I cleaned my sword on his clothes and began to walk away. A young woman turned into the street on her way to work. She spotted the body and screamed. I ran at her and silently broke her neck then drained her of blood and placed her next to Enkidu. Soon, someone would find the bodies and call the police. They'd find a dead man with a burnt heart that doesn't exist and an innocent woman completely drained of blood. They wont be able to find me, I left no evidence.
As I turned around the corner and walked past a McDonald's, I remembered something I mentioned before. Gilgamesh. Enkidu had said that he was close. Had he seen me kill his best friend? If he did, then why didn't he attack. Maybe I really have lost my mind. All I know is that I have to do something. I need to kill Gilgamesh.
